Flutist Naama Neuman is a distinguished chamber musician and orchestra player. She played first flute at the Komische Oper Berlin and The Wuppertal Symphony Orchestra, and as a second flute at the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra, and the Israel Camerata, Jerusalem. Dedicated to the performance of contemporary music, Ms. Neuman was a member of the Israel Contemporary Players, where she has performed numerous premieres of new pieces that were written for her and the ensemble. She has played under the Baton of conductors such as Zubin Mehta, Kiril Petrenko, Gustavo Dudamel, Ricardo Mutti, Kurt Masur, Michael Tilson Thomas, and Valery Gergiev. 

As an enthusiastic chamber musician, Ms. Neuman has participated in festivals including the International Chamber Music Festival d’été de Nice, the Felicia Blumenthal Music Festival, and the Pablo Casals Music Festival. She plays recitals all over the world from Israel to Germany, Canada, and Korea.

While still a teenager, Ms. Neuman won the second prize at the Haifa International Flute Competition and more recently she won the Concerto Competition of the Schulich School of Music, McGill University. Ms. Neuman’s musical training has been supported by scholarships from the America-Israel Cultural Foundation, and she holds a BA from the Jerusalem Academy for Music and Dance, Israel, a Masters of Music from Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst, Stuttgart, Germany, and a Graduate Artist Diploma from the Schulich School of Music, McGill University, Canada. Her teachers include Yossi Arnheim, Moshe A. Epstein, Davide Formisano, and Timothy Hutchins. 

Apart from her performance career, Ms. Neuman has also devoted her time to the promotion of musical activity and education in Israel. While acting as Music Director of the Nazareth Music Conservatory and the Galilee Chamber Orchestra, Neuman helped bring Jewish and Arab Israelis together through their shared love of music. In addition, her students won scholarships and auditions in Israel, Germany, and Canada.

Her arrangement of Grieg’s Violin Sonata No.1 has been published worldwide in 2020 by Edition Svitzer.
