About the Event

Prokofiev drew on classical forms and textures for his Flute Sonata, written at the height of his popularity during World War II. Lili Boulanger explored the new musical Impressionism but remained influenced by the Romantic art song in her two pieces (originally for violin and piano but arranged by Naama Neuman). Hans Gal, who used unconventional harmonies but always maintained a love of lyrical melodies, was inspired by the likes of Schubert and Austrian folk song in his Three Intermezzi. And finally, Walter Gieseking (primarily known as a pianist) couldn’t escape the influence of Debussy and Ravel for in his Sonatine.

Tickets: $30 general admission, $15 for students! 🎶
