Recorded in Jerusalem, November 2015. Eitan Steinberg about the piece: "Past and future are but mere directions, like left and right, back and forth" - this saying by Albert Einstein was my motto when I composed this piece, in which short units appear and disappear in between short intervals of silence. Suitable to Einstein's continuous perception of life, my piece too proved to have an ever-changing continuous life of its own, as I've [re]searched and [re]created it in four different versions: In 2008 it was commissioned and premiered by the Israeli Camerata Jerusalem, as a piece for a chamber orchestra. The ensemble version heard in this video was composed for and premiered by the German contemporary ensemble "El Perro Andaluz", in 2012. A third version, for a large symphony orchestra, was created for and premiered in 2013 by the Tbilisi Symphony Orchestra and conductor Vakhtang Kakhidze. In 2017 I've composed a fourth version, for chamber orchestra, that was performed in Estonia with conductor Andres Mustonen. The four versions differ not only in instrumentation but also in parts of the music, most notably in the third section. - Eitan Steinberg.
